Pediatric Dentistry is the branch of Dentistry that prevents, diagnoses and treats any oral disease or anomaly of the dental position of children. In the latter case it will refer you to the orthodontist to make the appropriate evaluation.
In the case of caries that appear in primary or baby teeth in children, the treatment will be carried out in a less conservative and more aggressive manner than in the case of adults, since as they are not definitive teeth, we must avoid insufficient treatment that in time could have repercussions on the successor tooth.
Pediatric dentistry is the branch of dentistry responsible for treating children. The pediatric dentist will therefore be in charge of examining and treating children and newborns. It is also responsible for detecting possible anomalies in the position of the jaws or teeth to refer to the orthodontist, a specialist in orthodontics, and to make a restorative treatment if needed.
The restorative treatment mainly consists of treating trauma, using sealants that have the function of slightly filling the grooves and fissures of the dental pieces without hardly removing dental material to avoid possible caries, and treating the caries produced and its consequences.
